MTV Unplugged

I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me before now but I spent the other evening browsing YouTube for old clips from my favorite program in high school, MTV’s Unplugged. As a wielder of a Guild D24 acoustic I used to dream of being in my own five man acoustical jam, and frequently was.
By watching that show it turns out you can do just about anything acoustic. Some of my favorites (can you name them):

Moon Movie Trailer

I must say I’ve not hear about Moon until today, and all I’ve seen is the trailer. And that trailer has done it’s job because I’m fascinated. It reminds me of that artsy-nuevo-sci-fi in the vein of Sunshine or The Fountain. And that’s a good thing.
This is going to be a hit

Today is PR (Jared Raffini)’s birthday. Unfortunately he doesn’t have a blog and rarely twitters so I’ll have to release his new hit single for him. I don’t know, perhaps with the proper vocal training and some work he’ll be stage ready.
Please enjoy.
If you must fast-forward, at least get to the 4:35 mark (or so) for his big high note.

(I’m sure there’s a lesson in there somewhere about working within your area of gifting. maybe?)
Fil 1:21?

Saw this on the road the other day. Can anyone help me to decipher the meaning of Fil 1:21? The only thing Jason and I could figure was that they intended for it to read Phil 1:21. Maybe?

Star Trek Super Bowl Spot

Say what you want, I’m stoked as heck about the new Star Trek movie. Ever since I used to sit and watch the original 1960s Star Trek with my Dad I’ve been a fan of the series. I grew up as a geeky middle schooler on The Next Generation (and have since renounced it), but with JJ in charge of this current iteration I think it will be worth the hype.
And if not, we still have GI Joe.

I love Lost. I like where season 5 is heading (though do any of us really know where that is?). And I most appreciate that it is best enjoyed as a community event.

Yesterday as I put my son to be he asked me “Dad, what did Santa bring you?”. This launched into a conversation that Santa brings presents only to kids, but he did visit me when I was a boy. “well, what did he bring you when you were a boy?”
As I mulled it over (via the wikipedia app, mind you) I came up with two items that I distinctly remember. Then I thought about the items G received and realized (not that I didn’t already know) how similar we really are.
(his packages were stuff with various mechanical items such as Robosapien, magnetic fridge gears, and lite brite for good measure).
