another iPhone drawing

0

I’m continually fascinated with what’s possible on the iPhone. Case in point; the following image was composed on my phone. I used the drawing app Sketchbook (by Autodesk) to draw it with virtual brushes and treated it in Tiltshiftgen for the color and blurs. Even the original reference photo of the creature was snapped with the camera. Just for phone calls? Art creation device? Who can tell.

Make the Most of Office Coffee

0

Fortunately I work at the best place on earth and they invest in quality coffee for us caffeine addicts, but if you’re not so fortunate you can survive the office cup of coffee. This article has some great tips on how to brew decent coffee from the stock office setup.

I could have used this years ago when I was an engineering intern. I frequently referred to our office brew as “barbecue water,” as it’s color and strangely hickory undertone (could that be plastic residue) favored a watered down sauce.

Eee PC cabinet mod

Something like this has always been the dream, a computer IN the kitchen cabinet. Think of it, Hulu, Google calendar, recipe databases; it would be amazing.

Title sequece

Ben shared this with me the other day and all I can say is “more of that, please.” Very nice.

I love watching this guy play, very slick indeed.

Monome controlled xylophone

What? A monome controlling a xylophone? Surely this is a sign that the movie Terminator is on its way to becoming true. This is an especially creative use of computer controlled physical device.

I should also direct you to Adam’s post, etc. He did a beautiful job on this piece.

G’s 5th

3

It’s been an awesome weekend. My son turns 5 on Monday so we’re having a weekend of celebration. Highlights include:
- a waterslide cake
- a Willy Wonka themed party
- G’s new bike (and cruising the NewSpring parking lot)
- building Legos
- spending time with family

It’s been great. I count myself blessed to have such great friends, and family, especially my wonderfully creative, caring 5-year-old.

Nudge, an online electronic instrument

2

What a fun idea. Nudge, an online tone-matrix style sequencer. It’s worth at least 15 minutes of your time to create some digital music. And you don’t even have to leave the avclub to try it out since they so kindly let you embed it right here.

faux iPhone tilt shift

1

Per Shua’s recommendation I forked out the $0.99 for TiltShiftGen, an iPhone tilt shift generator and haven’t regretted it. I uploaded a few samples to my Flickr, my favorite being this shot of Death Valley.

small mograph

1

Not every motion graphic piece we do is a large scale, massive piece. Sometimes they’re small. A little tag here, a small photography composition there. A little color grading, a little clean up work, building a quick motion loop element. I enjoy these “small mograph” pieces. They break the flow, allow for you to start and complete the project within an hour or two, and add a little functional gloss to part of the service.

Here is an example of such a piece. We welcomed Todd Fields to lead worship this weekend at NewSpring’s Anderson campus. Just so people knew who he was and to not take away from the energy that begins the service I built this little 10 sec tag that ran directly after the service counter during the intro of the first song. Simple, effective.

Nike – History of Flight

I love the depth of these Nike – History of Flight pieces on Fubiz™. Very clean, the shadows are great and that subtle thickness on the letters is awesome.

I really should take a few days off to build this beautiful comic shelf for the office.

Bashnia Tatlina Tower Bawher

2

I don’t know the history behind this piece, but I understand it to be Russian. I love the fact that it’s just… so… unique. It’s not 3D. There’s no techno music. It almost feels hand made. But somehow it has a frantic pace that conveys so much emotion. And a beautiful color palette that evokes nostalgia. This might be my favorite mograph piece of the week.

Dirt Conference in coming soon, Nov 10-11, 2009, to be specific. I’ll be there. Anyone else making it out to Little Rock?

monome track, untitled

0

A little monome fun over the weekend. I should probably rerecord this track; it’s a bit sloppy getting started and falls apart in the end. On the other hand, I was holding the iPhone with one hand so there’s that. Samples are all original, composed in Reason. Running the mlrV app for playback (it’s pictured in the video).
