Favorite twitter of the week

Today’s favorite twitter of the week comes from our internet campus pastor, Nick. This falls under the category of “it’s not what you say but how you say it” in that he was able to effectively remember the twitter identity of every person in the room. And it’s also notable than in a discussion about the future NewSpring internet campus, every participant of the discuss is an avid twitterer. And here’s the twitter (and the original):

Best Word Book Ever

Meg sent this my way the other day. Our son, G, loves Richard Scarry’s books, all of them. I grew up on them, too. Well, in this comparison of the 1963 version vs. the 1990 version it appears there are some differences. Nice.

Cake artist

This is an interesting interview with Michael Byzewski of Aesthetic Apparatus, designer of Cake’s B-sides album artwork. I love this album, own it, and pride myself on it’s innate ability to smell like grape (yes, the album cover is scratch-n-sniff. try that in iTunes). Worthy of a read, he’s quite witty. I especially like this question:
Kidd – If Betty Crocker & Little Debbie got in a fist-fight – in your professional opinion – who would win?Break it down for us.
Michael – Ha. Trick question! Everyone knows that the both died in a tragic, mammoth sloth attack.

Hobnox, digital online sequencing

I’m loving Hobnox’s Audiotool, which performs as a flash-based online iteration of Propellerhead’s Reason (or more accurately, the original Rebirth). It’s tactile, pretty (love the color of the stomp boxen), and offers enough depth for an interesting evening. Not sure if I’ll ditch full-on Reason for this, but it’s a compelling free option if you want to create electronic music like they did in your father’s day.

I’m in the habit of wildly snapping photos from my iPhone of just about everything. If I catch a friend in the image, I try and be disciplined about then attaching pics to their contact info so I’m reminded of a particular, random memory when they call. The first I’d like to share is this image of the coolest (and luckily my) boss, Shane. We’re pictured here on a subway in Chicago and I think he’s slowly going insane after we got stranded for an entire extra day. Ah, good times.
Also important to note, I’m calling him here with exactly ZERO bars of service. And the call went through. Hmm.

The URBAN Gridded Notebook

Seriously I should be stopped. I’m about 80% capacity on my Rhodia spiral notebook and I just got to page 5 of my large-format gridded notebook… and I just ordered the The URBAN Gridded Notebook by John Briscella. It’s a notebook imprinted with unique city layouts. It looks amazing, and I’m sure I’ll find myself doodling with new dimension upon its arrival.

This is what happens when you use the iTunes genius to match up Lee’s “We Stand.” Lee, you’ll have to weigh in on whether you feel it’s an accurate portrayal of your peers.
