Netflix is becoming not-my-friend

It appears Netflix thinks it a good idea to remove features that people have come to love and rely upon. Hacking Netflix reports that Netflix will be removing their multiple profile feature beginning September 1st, 2008.
Here is the official statement from Netflix.
Me? I’m pretty disappointed. I’ve come to heavily rely on this feature and use it to keep my wife’s, my children’s and my DVDs separated. Taking this away is going to be very inconvenient for the Wilson family.
What do you think? Anyone else out the use profiles to keep their DVD Queues separate?
I wonder if Netflix plans to replace this feature with something superior in some fashion. I’ll vow to remain open minded until we reach the end of this and they disappointment me.

Agreed. This is a very useful feature and I’m very sad to see it go.
My wife and I both have separate queues… it’ll be inconvenient but we can monitor one and make sure we both get something sent that we want…. what’ll be harder is how to deal with the rating system… we often rate movies very differently and the usefulness of this feature (and the accompanying suggestions feature) will be minimal.
It seems unlikely, but I hope that Netflix will reconsider.

Agreed that this is most unfortunate. My roommates and I split Netflix. It will be nearly impossible for us to do so now.

Wife and I share 5 @ a time. What will happen to her ratings. Will my friends threaten to pull my Man card when she highly rates “Sex and the City” ahhhh!
They say that only 2% of the Netflix community uses this feature and it’s a pain for them to update the website frequently because of it. I say leave the site alone then, it’s functional.
I called them to express my sadness with them (in a polite way) and the guy said to leave a comment in the suggestions link {Contact Us link, then suggestions link} He said that they constantly monitor that and it would go directly to the folks that need to hear it.

Netflix is our primary entertainment medium, since we use rabbit ears. The multiple ques was important as it allowed us to separate TV-shows from movies.
We remain to be open minded, but I am monitoring the situation closely. If the ques disappear then, we will consider our options. This would include taking the money spent on netflix and moving it to a faster broadband connection. I would mod a xbox, purchase and apple tv or something. However with bandwidth caps being considered this may be less than ideal as well. I may have to bite the bullet and get satellite.
However, we are in agreement we will cancel Netflix and search for an alternative on Sept 1. Satellite may be the best option as College football will be starting back up.
