Get movie files off a DVD

1

The question of how to extract a DVD for editing purposes comes to us a lot. We record our services on consumer DVD Recorders (not unlike something from here). Sure the quality isn’t pristine, but once you rip, edit, and encode for a smaller size on the web, that’s pretty much a non-issue as our currently playback size is 320×240. And DVD Recorders are significantly less expensive than recording to DVC-Pro tape or other professional formats.

After capturing on DVD Recorder, Will extracts the video data onto his machine for editing. I found this article explaining how to extract the DVD, and that’s what initiated this post. We use MPEG-Streamclip but there are other options out there. Hopefully this will steer you in the right direction.
