Sex, Money, & Power open

I missed posting this the other week… the open for our current series, Sex, Money, & Power. All and all I’m happy with how it came out. The goal was to convey the brash nature of the series and heavily imply the fact that we’re really putting it in your face, while at the same time honoring the look we’ve established with the mailer and logo. There are two cuts, a full length and a short version.

Last night, Meg and I had a date night planned. But since we’ve been going hard all week and running errands most of Friday, we decided to make it a cook-at-home date night. Mmm… NY Strip (on sale at Publix, go get you some) and shrimp.
We also caught up on Scrubs and The Office from earlier. I gotta say, I wasn’t fully impressed in either of the post Writer’s Strike debuts. Hopefully they’ll warm up their brains and start turning out some more magical shows in the upcoming weeks.

You know I love my Dot Grid Book from Behance, and I’ll probably keep using them. But as soon as this one is used up (about 10 pages to go!), I’m going to try out a Rhodia. I mean, they’re orange, they look like they’re from the 70s, and the graph paper is apparently purple.
I’m really psyched. The pair should arrive next week (one 8.5×11, and one 6×4).

Would it be too much to order pencils, too? I didn’t, but maybe I should.

The other day, I brought home some sticky, sugary surprises for the kids. Yeah, that went very well.

So, this little building project we have going is starting to take off. The guys have been catching b-roll on it religiously.
Perry has a little update on the state of things here.
I need to make sure my son doesn’t sneak out and take over use of the crane. With his recent track record, I wouldn’t put it past him.

As a lover of modifying just about anything, I was intrigued by this firmware mod for Canon cameras (I have an SD1000). It appears you can temporarily overwrite the firmware and gain access to deeper features not intended to see the light of day. Cool.
In practice, I don’t think I know enough about cameras to pull any great elements out. I guess I’ll have to had it to Will to show me how to make it more exciting.

What, you took a nap on Sunday afternoon? You watched a movie, or TV, or played Wii? Not this guy, no sir, I was cuttin’ some grass.
Insert obvious iPod / sound reducing earmuffs joke here.

Take a look at these Vintage logo book scans from 43folders.com. Love it. Makes we feel the need to redesign, to put thought into it, and to find something that sticks.

Hey AV Club readers. I have a favor to ask. I don’t normally ask anything from you, so I hope you’ll entertain me on this one. My wife is hosting a contest whereby she gets products from a company, reviews them, and then gives it away. Various people send her things to review. How cool, right?
Anyway, the normal channel she uses to promote her giveaways is unable to advertise this giveaway. So she won’t disappoint her sponsor, would you guys mind dropping by her blog and reading the review. Then, please enter the contest so that things get interesting.
Thanks, that means a lot.

Javan Ivey has a great piece (includes a “making of”). Go watch, you’ll appreciate. I love organic, non-computer generated imagery, and this technique tops it. Well realized.

I can’t be sure of this, but I’m 99% convinced that the Nasonex bee is working for the children’s Christian DVD industry.
