I saw this on a TV where I get my hair cut. It’s from some soap opera. Does his neck appear about twice the size of his head?
Mac Picasa

Looks like Google’s working on a version of Picasa for the Mac. Finally. I’m a huge fan of Picasa, but use iPhoto at the moment as there’s nothing better suited on the Mac OS (minus Adobe Bridge, which is just too heavy a hitter for my minimal casual photo tastes).

So, my kids are cute and loving the snow (or slush, as it were).

Does this iTunes make me look fat?

I agree with Gruntboy, why does an iTunes update end up so large? Does anyone remember Winamp, which used to clock in at 2-3 MB.

Keynote thoughts

Two major revelations this year (in my opinion) from the Apple
keynote. (1) I didn’t follow it real-time. (2) I wasn’t overly impressed. Maybe I’m mellowing as I age, or maybe I’m still looking for that-one-perfect Apple product they’re so close to, but haven’t made. But in the end, I said “hmm, that’s cool I guess.”

Or maybe I’m just satisfied with what I already have. Contentment is a great thing. Besides, as thin as the Macbook Air is, I’m afraid I’d snap it like a twig.

What would I do with unlimited free time, probably something like this, from Brickshelf Gallery (full site here).
I didn’t say unlimited free time would make me cooler, did I?
The Sci Fi Sounds Quiz

Meg shared this with me tonight, The Sci Fi Sounds Quiz. Let’s just say I scored a 78% and had it make a reference to me speaking Klingon. (Don’t you love how the word Klingon doesn’t show up as a misspelled word? Awesome).
What does Ken do on a Friday?

- In me
So, what does Ken do on a Friday? Hey, yesterday was a Friday, why don’t I cover that? I did a lot of things, a few of which I’ll highlight here.
- slept in (thanks to Mom watching the kids the night before)
- played with the kids
- continued to set up a PC
- made this (from these instructions)
- smashed a lightbulb with my son just to see what’s inside
- cracked, shelled, and prepared a whole coconut
- watched a few episodes of Firefly on Hulu
- went for a walk
- bathed some youngsters, created “shaving cream” from foam soap for G
- did the grocery shopping at Publix
- ordered a year’s worth of new contacts (AND survived Wal-Mart).
- pondered getting film-school-style glasses (seriously, any opinions here)
- researched shoes
- chased the kids around the yard
Clutter Entropy | Zen Habits

Here’s a great article on effectively reducing clutter from Zen Habits. I’m especially fond of, and fervently use, number 4. If you’ve seen my frantic pace when my bag’s disorganized, you’ll understand this. I have literally lost items for months at a time, only to find them in another pocket of the bag. It’s serious. Read on.
4. Designate a home for everything, and be fanatic. When you find stuff on flat surfaces, or draping over a chair, it might be because you don’t have a designated spot for that kind of thing. If you don’t, designate a spot for it immediately. If stuff doesn’t have a home in your home, you need to get rid of it, or it will forever wander around the house. The other problem might be that you have already designated a spot for it, but you’re just not good at putting it away. In that case, take a month to build up the habit of putting things where they belong immediately. It’ll make a huge difference.

Great friends, great food

Tonight, the great Rev. Joe Dale (or Joe Hall, as most know him) took Meg and I to my favorite and probably only frequented steakhouse, Charlie’s. I blogged about it a few months back, and he was interested.
We had a great time, fun conversation, and all in all completely stuffed ourselves until overflowing with food. Joe and I split the “steak for three.” You heard me. We left some of the side dishes, but believe me, there was no bovine wasted.
Then we ordered dessert.
What a great evening. If you find yourself in the mood for some serious atmosphere and quality beef, this place is the real deal (est. 1921).

Form and Motion – Fubiz™ by Leandro Feuz are really gorgeous and flowy. Not exactly sure what they mean, but in this case I can enjoy them on mood alone. Nicely done.

That’s right, fans of the first Neubau Welt vector book (you know who you are), there’s a new one now. It’s all patterns and textures and looks fascinating and influential. Nevermind the fact the it’s beautifully printed and sits nicely on a coffee table. (Neubau Welt: Modul)
