megapixels = good?

Saw these two articles within a few days of each other and found them worthy to share. It’s a common misnomer that more megapixels in a camera is a good thing, right? I mean, bigger is better, right? Not quite so. Read on (and when you’re done there, read on here)

    Ken,

    I have a completly unrelated question for you. I am the media guy at a church with limited resources. I also have no training in media and have only being doing this for a year. (i kind of got picked to do it b/c i was the young guy and i actually knew what a mac was, when the old media guy left) In staff meeting we discussed doing a video for an upcoming series and i wanna make it a silent film. Therefore, i need to give it a very jumpy look which I intend to do by slowing my shutter speed. I also wanted to give it a “grainy” look which i can do in final cut express. But i was wondering what you would suggest for actually putting “stuff” (i dont know what it is called) on the image so that it looks like old film. Do you have any suggestion.

    Please note that all I have to work with is final cut express and photoshop cs2.

    any help would be appriciated.

    thanks

    J. I’d suggest Googling “old film look” and “old film look final cut express”

    The creative cow is full of good articles (www.creativecow.net)… a good resource.

    (and you’ll find some stuff like this)
