Charter talk

2

How is it that my cable company can increase my rate by $30/month, battle with me for 30 minutes on the phone, hang up on me during the call, and in the end only commit to a $1 increase (guaranteed for a paltry 6 months)…

and I feel like I somehow won this deal? I look forward to a time when there’s actual competition in this arena and the cable company actually acts like they want my business.

    Ken,

Exactly why I am moving to Direct TV this week after many years with cable. I’ll let you know how that transition goes.

Although I did talk them down on the cable modem by $20 a month, since I plan to keep it for now.

Oh Ken – boy do we feel your pain. When we lived in Easley, couldn’t get high-speed bc we lived too far off the road. Then when we moved to TR, only 2 miles from North Greenville University – high-speed was to be a reality, right??? WRONG – good old Charter had cable on our road, but again, bc our house was not sitting on top of the road they wouldn’t run cable to our house. So frustrating! After another year and a half of paltry dial-up, we finally fished around with Charter long enough to get ahold of the right person in the business division who helped start us on the path to high-speed internet…of course, then we had to pay to run the cable, and cheap it was not, but at least we have it now. But we’ve already jumped back to DishNetwork for our TV – we liked their DVR so much better than Charter or Tivo. Anyway, sorry for the rant – but definitely feel your pain! Open the markets and let’s have some business competition!!! Maybe then customer service won’t be so elusive!!
