The Perfect Kid opener

A few days delayed, but here’s the opener for The Perfect Kid.

The Perfect Kid Open (Quicktime)

And for an extra special behind-the-scenes, here is the original concept sheet the team worked from in developing the series. The Perfect Kid concept #3, (you don’t get to see versions 1 and 2).

It’s too late in the game for this Wednesday, but next year, oh yes, I think Gardner and I have found our Fall 08 project.

Halloween’s nearly upon us. How about some Flash-based pumpkin carving, today? I did one of my own.

new features for Apple

0

I don’t know when we’re upgrading to the new Apple OS (Jared could tell me, I’m sure), but here’s yet another list of features to expect. A lot of these articles are out there, this one focuses on the features that aren’t as prevalent.

DJ G

The other Sunday, my wife brought the kids up to say hey between services. I like to help walk them to the car, since it makes it much easier for Meg to transport the two wiggle worms.

But we were in the middle of some quick changes, etc., and they had to wait for me in my office. To keep G occupied, I supplied him with the little Oxygen 8 keyboard, and I tied it in to Reason 4 to keep him going. A little Rhodes sample, some delay (he really likes the delay), and he was occupied for quite some time.

Rip and clean

0

I spent the evening doing some much neglected household chores (like applying half a gallon of bug spray to the baseboards, die sprickets die). Then I cleaned up the loads of junk piling up beside by bed. I love music, I love magazines, I love electronic chargers, converters, wires, connectors and on and on and on.

So I cleaned. Now I have a bedside table that’s actually usable. I’ve purged. I’ve filed. And it feels good to get that junky area of my life under control.

Then I found CDs. Ever since my massive music crash about a year ago, I continue to run across CDs that I’ve forgotten to rip back into the iTunes / iPod system. Tonight, I spent an hour amassing the following:

Tosca – J.A.C. and Suzuki
POD – Satellite
Zero 7 – Simple Things
The White Stripes – The White Stripes
Air – Talkie Walkie
Jamiroquai – Synkronized

Guys, it’s good to have you back. Welcome to the iPod. You, Zero 7, I missed you most of all.

This is probably news to no one as you probably already read it, but Shua’s updated his blog styling. Go enjoy his prettiness.

God Came Near

2

“God Came Near” is a a quiet, understated piece that served as our opener / roll in for this week. The reading comes from a book by Max Lucadeo. On the big screen, in a dark room, it had a strong impact. Be sure to watch it through to the end.

Heroes

2

Did anyone watch Heroes last night? I was working on something and had it on in the background, but I caught most of it. Did it get a little darker than previous episodes? I’m not really sure what’s going on now. I was convinced the blonde girl was bad news, and for some reason I thought mind reader’s Dad was the dude as Mohinder’s boss at “The Company,” but I guess they’re different people. This season’s looking interesting. Anyone else have a conspiracy theory yet?

Our Favorite Fonts of 2006 | Typographica

Typographica posts it’s Favorite Fonts of 2006 list. It’s a little old news by now (I’ve held on to this post for a little while), but font talk is always still pertinent, right? So retire that font you always go back to (I’m talking to myself here) and try something new.

Unmult

Little, easy After Effects plugin for taking your black portions and converting them to transparent.

Unmult, by Knoll (download here).

Why would you use this? Does anyone create lens flares on a black solid? Then, try there. If you have no clue what I’m talking about, then just ignore this post and read the next one.

missing lifeline

So, I left my phone at the office as I was leaving work tonight. Nobody call me, OK? You can always email. Or carrier pigeon.

I think I’ll play Cake’s “No Phone”

useful.

Perfect, just in time for my Halloween karaoke party.

No and Yes.

This is an eerie, weird no, and a geeky yes.

Busy Saturday

0

It’s been a busy Saturday (and Friday, for that matter). We’ve had company in town all weekend, more on that later. It’s been great. Haven’t had much time for posting, but then it’s nice not to have the internet ruling your life. So here are some things I saw on the old RSS reader:

31 ways to motivate yourself to exercise
How to prepare for houseguests
Music distribution / piracy article (mentions the new Radiohead album)

G’night.

Nice list of fresh, new free fonts over at Smashing Magazine’s site. Me, I like Mido and I’m sure it’ll find its way into some work.

AV Club texture library

I’d nearly forgotten about my texture library until Justin mentioned it in a comment (sorry Justin, don’t know how that got moderated). I’ll mount it to the sidebar so it won’t be forgotten again. Please visit and use. Just let me know if these make their way into something… I’m just curious that way.
