No, the gas water heater didn’t explode, but the piping job has sprung a leak… I’ve replaced it three times now. At the moment, it’s not dripping water so here’s hoping it’s repaired. (very small “yeah”).

Meg and I are neck deep into several (yes, not just one) major repairs around the house right now. That would explain the lack of posting over the past few days. Give me until Monday, and I promise a weekend review-in-pictures.

    Hey Ken,
You did mean CPVC (Yellow) vs. PVC (White) as PVC is not rated for hot water.
    Just a Thought!

  • The one time I tried to glue PVC “by the book” (i.e. with the purple cleaner that is guaranteed to get on your hands) the joint blew apart after an hour of curing. Reflecting back on the hundreds of joints I had successfully glued with solvent only without so much as a hint of failure, I decided to ask some experts. Their reply was that the proper method was to glue with solvent only and then swipe to purple stuff around to appease any building inspectors. Oh, and don’t get me started about the alleged ineffectiveness of s-traps.
