I’m currently loving Massive Attack’s Mezzanine. In Trip-Hop circles, it’s considered a classic. It’s trippy, slowly energetic, and moody. Great work music for a February day.
Cars, pt. 01

First, we launched the Cars series yesterday. DJ and I (and Will, thanks for locating the clips) worked up a little something special to start it off. (Opener here, 4.2MB)
This weekend, we had 9,260 people at church. (Perry’s thoughts here). It was incredible, it was amazing, and what really blew me away, we didn’t realize it until the end of the day. Why is that a big deal?
Because with a record Sunday’s attendance, you would figure on people freaking out, running about madly looking for gaps to fill, trying to hold their composure while figuring on a way to handle all the stress.
But not our volunteers. They just did what they always do, with excellence, and watched God at work. We’ve always had a mentality to operate like a church twice our size. That way, when the numbers grow, we’re ready for it with no surprises. Having that thought process helps us to deal with stress in stride, and I could not be more proud yesterday turned out.
It’s a pleasure and an honor to serve with such extraordinary volunteers and staff. Keep praying, because this thing’s just getting warmed up.

Um, yeah, sorry I broke my blog, fellow AV Clubbers (and sorry Josh for ripping your theme… this is only temporary… you own it). It’s been a busy few weeks, I tried to tweak the last site a little, and ended up breaking it beyond recognition. One should never get in a hurry on this sort of thing.
Anyway, last night was First Wednesday and, thus, there is a new opener.

Not much for you today. Meg sent me this, some lesser-know Playmobil characters. Back when we were dating, Meg and I used to pick up and collect some of these Playmobil characters. I think I still have the Santa Claus character.
If you’re a techie… a Mac techie… and you use Quicksilver, here’s a neat use of it sent to me via Jared.
I do have a technical question that I could use the collective brains of all of you to solve. I’m currently helping Gary Lamb join the ranks of Word Press bloggers. I’ve stumbled upon a technical glitch that has me stumped. Here’s the scenario: His site is set up at godaddy.com. We have him on his own hosting account, with his name attached. I have Word Press up and running. Word Press works and (nearly) all functions are clocking along. With one small symptom…
The RSS feed is screwed up.
It’s weird. You can go to the reader of your choice (I like bloglines) and subscribe to his site. It will accept the feed. You can manually view all of the posts, say, withing the last 48 hours and they’ll show up. But by default all posts are marked “read.” No new updates come in to your reader. If you manually check it days later, it will show you the posts that are out there. But new updates are not automatically picked up.
It’s as if all posts are published with an “already read” status.
I went so far as to set up a second blog at garylamb.org/blog to see if it’s something in my setup, that blog exhibits the same symptoms. Also broken. I built the Ridge Stone Backstage blog a year or so ago and it works fine. So I installed a third version of Word Press under it at www.ridgestonebackstage.com/gary and it, too shows the same issues.
I’ve tested WordPress version 2.0.2, 2.0.5, 2.0.7 and WordPress 2.1. Both exhibit the same problem.
Other things I’ve attempted:
- replacing the wp_RSS2.php files from a working site (namely, mine)
- testing different versions of wordpress
- multiple installations of the blog both on the same hosting account and different hosting account
- disabled all plugins
- disabled all but default themes
- initially tried feedburner, but have disabled it, too
- scoured through the wordpress.org/support forums… nothing
- left a post at the forums… nothing
My only thoughts now are to attempt to find some very old installations of Word Press. Does anyone have suggestions… please!!!

NSC car

One of our Production Team volunteers, Daryle, is heavily involved in online NASCAR racing. From what he shares with me, he’s serious about this thing, meeting up at set times to play with other people from around the world. What’s cool, he uses this opportunity to share Christ with his community of fellow gamers.
Daryle was telling me just last week how much he loves that we’re putting the videos from NewSpring’s services online. He can now invite his friends from around the world to watch the work that’s going on at NewSpring.
Oh, and I hooked him up with some logos so he can trick out his car NewSpring style. Sweet.

The trip to Birmingham was a success. We arrived. We attended the wedding. We quickly departed and headed back to Anderson. The kids got a little fussy toward the end of the night, but who wouldn’t after hundreds of miles.
Highlight of the trip, the groom’s cake (donut. cake. that is).

Many of you know me know that I’m a huge fan / user of the Hipster PDA. Well, the Hipster Shuffle idea takes it to a new level. I love my iPod mini, but that almost makes me want to change. In fact, look what’s sitting on my desk right now… I almost seems like a natural evolution.
Mind you, I still need to take the time to discuss with you all the joys of my GTD and Hipster combo. It’s beautiful. Perhaps I’m not fully ready to share it because it’s still in the evolutionary phase. But then again, is something like that ever not in an evolutionary phase. You can call me productivity-geek.

On another note, I’m still running. Even though I can only easily do it late in the evening, and it’s 32 degrees, I’m still in. Hey, this pic is cool enough for my myspace, huh?

Finally, do pray for us tomorrow. We’re taking a 4.5 Hour (one way) trip to Birmingham, AL to see Meg’s cousin get married. Then we’re turning around and taking a 4.5 Hour trip back to Anderson. Oh, did I mention we’re carrying a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old along for the ride? And yes, prayer. Thanks. I won’t have web access, but if you’re really curious, I’m sure I’ll be firing off snapshots to my Flickr all day.
