Cars, pt. 01

First, we launched the Cars series yesterday. DJ and I (and Will, thanks for locating the clips) worked up a little something special to start it off. (Opener here, 4.2MB)
This weekend, we had 9,260 people at church. (Perry’s thoughts here). It was incredible, it was amazing, and what really blew me away, we didn’t realize it until the end of the day. Why is that a big deal?
Because with a record Sunday’s attendance, you would figure on people freaking out, running about madly looking for gaps to fill, trying to hold their composure while figuring on a way to handle all the stress.
But not our volunteers. They just did what they always do, with excellence, and watched God at work. We’ve always had a mentality to operate like a church twice our size. That way, when the numbers grow, we’re ready for it with no surprises. Having that thought process helps us to deal with stress in stride, and I could not be more proud yesterday turned out.
It’s a pleasure and an honor to serve with such extraordinary volunteers and staff. Keep praying, because this thing’s just getting warmed up.
