Nice map site that uses Google maps and allows you to mark way points along a route. Mapmyrun.com. Not as useful for me since my run consists of straight up Hwy. 81, turn around, straight back… but some folks would appreciate it.

Friday morning, Meg and I saw these campers waiting in line. I presume they’re anticipating the PS3 release. In all honesty, this is probably a good way for a single guy to ensure that he’ll never get married.
UPDATE: I looked online… the PS3 comes out on Nov. 17th. Hmm.

Many who know me know I’ve become an Apple fanatic in the past year or so. Now, I know that Apple won’t save the world, but I do think that a well designed creative machine will not impair your creative vision. (it won’t develop it for you, either). Still, the tech world is talking about this new “thing,” the Zune. It’s Microsoft’s answer to the iPod.
A bit late, I say, but competition is always welcome. Many have seen the recent Mac vs PC ads. They really make you think Mac has it going on. Well, here is a recent Microsoft Zune ad. DOES THIS MAKE ANYONE WANT A ZUNE??? It scares me. This article on feed links more information. I’m a fan of Tokyo Plastic, who evidently built this piece.
I think this goes to prove the principle that “gross things don’t sell products.”

My pal over at Echofaith reposted a great article of Lost talk that will be very interesting to those of you who are fan and will be of utter uselessness to those that prefer, say, 24 or some other inferior show (flame wars ensue).

Here’s a title screen for the Capital Campaign wrap up events. The image is the building (obviously), and the backdrop is the acid-washed treatment of the concrete when the floors were stained.

Not the Eminem movie… but the distance I ran this Sunday afternoon. It was great, and I’m getting prepared for the upcoming 1/2M in December. That was the farthest I’ve ever run and it feels pretty darn good. So, what entertains me for the duration of 8 miles? My trusty iPod loaded with delicious tunes. Here are some recent selections:
“Anthem” – Moby / “In the Air Tonight” – Nonpoint / “One of These Mornings” – Moby with Patti LaBelle from the Miami Vice Soundtrack. The new Disturbed album, Mazzy Star’s “Fade into you” as a cool down, and a few new tracks from Jet and the Killers. All good stuff.
Next week, 10 miles.
haven’t stopped…

Yesterday, Meg and I did not stop moving until we fell asleep. It was a wonderful and busy Saturday. We first ventured to Abbeville to take Gardner and Rainey to the farm. The visit was multi-fold. We saw family, Rainey met my grandparents for the first time. Gardner got to ride on the 4-wheeler (or the trailer behind it, with me holding him). And we picked out several sycamore trees down my the river bed that we’ll be transplanting to Anderson this winter. Yeah! I’m finally going to own more than 3 trees!
Then we ran home, I took care of the garbage duty (thanks for the truck, DJ), and the kids “attempted” to nap. And it was off to Meg’s grandfather’s 88th birthday. Fun times. Spent the evening chasing kids and discussing the finer points of the LG Chocolate, the Razr, and why I can’t get the new Gmail app to run on my phone (boo).
And then we came home and crashed. I consider myself fortunate to have so much family (1) still living and (2) so close. Nearly everyone I’m related to lives under an hour’s drive away. Awesome.

So, what did you all think of Lost last night? Me, I enjoyed it but the whole “the good guys are still in captive and getting the poo beat out of them” thing is getting a little old. And for the Sawyer/Kate love scene, I suspect they’re just trying to get keep the ratings up. I look forward to next spring’s extended bonanza, and I’m thinking of revisiting parts of season 02 in order to discover what I missed.

(unrelated:) Wired article that’s interesting. Write a short story in 6 words. Then pass off the titles to designers to compose cover art.

Head over to wondercafe.ca and check out “view campaigns” link on the bottom left. I suppose their aim is to stir up discussion on what some would consider to be ambiguous spiritual / moral issues. A valiant effort, and the ads are clever enough to start discussion.

At NewSpring, we have the best people. The best volunteers, the best attenders, the best everything. This email was forwarded to the staff today. It came from one of our volunteers. It’s encouraging to know that the people we serve stand behind us. Thanks, guys.
(*** Note: this message came to one of our staff ladies, but it applies to us all***)
Hey Ladies, I just wanted to let you all know that I am praying for the Newspring staff today. In light of everything that is going on in the news with Ted Haggardy, I wanted to lift you all up and let you know that we love you guys and are so thankful God has blessed us with such great leaders.
Father God, Lord Jesus, I pray and ask that you continue to protect our staff and keep them pure. I pray and ask that you remove anyone or anything in their paths that may cause them to stumble. I pray that you will guard, protect, and strengthen their marriages and help them to always put you first. In your name I pray, Amen.
Thinking about you all today.
