It’s nearly December and I just set my thermostat to Air Conditioning. Does that strike anyone else as strange? (unless you live in the South, in which case you’ll find it perfectly normal).

Working busily on the ‘Tis the Season series identity and graphics… expect post and opener soon. This is going to be a fun series… full of vision and reflection. The concept is ‘Tis the season… to dream / to celebrate / to be thankful… and on and on. The look is nostalgia with a slight hint of modern edge.

Heroes continues to not disappoint. Wow, what a great show. Last night’s was no exception. Unfortunately, they’re pulling a “Lost” and next week is the last fresh episode until the Spring. No matter… at least we can watch Elf and Christmas Vacation without worrying about overlapping new episodes.

I’m not a flash guy… never have been a fan of flash sites. OK, there was a time I thought they were cool, but the most useful sites I visit are primarily for their content and not for the fizzle and bang.
Except this site. Section Seven is possibly the best use of flash I’ve seen on the web. I’m sure there are others, but I find this site extremely intuitive and useful. Way to go.

It’s been a long day and I don’t have much time to write about it, but DJ and I ventured out to Best Buy this morning at 4:30am. Mostly, we did it because Meg dared that we wouldn’t. I must say, I got nearly all of my holiday shopping done before 9:00am at the Mall (after Best Buy), and that included a Chick-Fil-a breakfast! Here’s the picture of the line outside prior to Best Buy opening (video coming).

It’s Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I’m off today and vacation means (1) rest and (2) time with family. Last night was Guy-night-out at home group. Greasy meat filled dinner was involved, and a much-needed trip to Best Buy. Wes explained the finer points of HD, LCD, Plasma, Blue Ray, HD DVD, oh, and we looked at a video for the Wii. Strange name. Then we returned to the house for an attempt to play Halo 2. That didn’t go quite as good (steep learning curve), but fortunately I’d picked up a racing game at a yard sale that proved to be more equally matched.
Today, I hope to enjoy some true down time. You? I’ll suggest an interesting battery of links for a pre-holiday Wednesday:
- make your own coffee roaster.
- An interactive Periodic Table (there’s probably, like, two of you out there who’ll appreciate it).
- Again, I’ll say go visit XPLSV.TV for some great motion graphics… this is what’s being posting in the community. (My profile is here)
- Finally, I started toying with a little CMS called “Zen Photo” to organize mass quantities of photos. I have a default look on it right now, but thought you’d like to see to progress as it unfolds here.

It’s been a good day. Began at around 5:30a when my alarm went off. We had to have Gardner at the hospital by 6:45a for his outpatient procedure. We were tired, he was exploring the room. The little guy was so brave, didn’t cry, didn’t make a fuss, and somehow had the nurses laughing and smiling as they brought him back to us. All in all, his surgery was very quick, and the anesthesiologist went to NewSpring. Always comforting. I’m thankful to God that it wasn’t a huge deal, that my son was extremely brave, that we have doctors and nurses who are skilled and can care for him, and that God protected him.
The rest of the day, I was prepared for him to be upset. We were warned that the anesthesia would make him grumpy, whiny, and generally irritable. Not so. Gardner was his usual cheerful self… running around, eating a huge lunch, and taking a three hour nap. Blessings all around.
Oh, and Heroes was on tonight. Still did not disappoint. OK, so we’ve saved the cheerleader. Exactly HOW does that save the world? And why didn’t Peter absorb Siler’s powers and kick some tail? Just questions…

say a little prayer…

Tomorrow, Gardner is having some minor surgery. I’m sure he’ll be fine, but I think you should say a quick prayer for his parents (that’d be us). The procedure involves about 5 minutes of time, and a general anesthesia to put him to sleep. Oh, and about a week of painful recovery. Prayers (specifically at about 6:45am) would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Take an afternoon… make some paper. Me, my afternoon will consist of tackling home projects and taking a family picture for our Christmas cards (shot by Ben). And probably some exercise.
