Just for the record, I ran 5.5 miles last night in the dark and drizzling rain. By myself. Oh, and does it make me a total geek that after 9:00, when the access is in the “free minute” range, I checked my email from my phone at mile 4?

Next time you go for a run, let me know, and i can send you emails with inspirational messages such as “Pain is Only Weakness Leaving the Body” and the like.
5.5 miles is awesome, and by yourself takes even more dedication. Youdda man.

I checked out my dictionary, and under the word “Nerd” it referenced this exact specific activity – checking e-mails, in the dark, during the rain, after 9PM, and while running.

If you had checked your rss feeds also, you might be considered a total geek.
But if you had done all of that and also texted a message update to your blog on your phone while running after 9 pm in the rain, then you would be an Über geek.
…So I guess your just a regular geek.

(1) I get Bloglines on my phone, so yes, I can check my RSS feeds.
(2) I snapped a picture of myself to post to Flickr during the run (from the phone no less!)… but alas it was too dark and the exposure on a camera phone is nothing to brag about.
(3) so call me the Über geek as I deserve…
