According to Entertainment Weekly, the new season starts 10/4/6. New episodes will run for 6 (maybe 7) weeks. Then, (please make sure you are sitting down) Lost will take a 13 week hiatus and return on the Spring schedule for the rest of the season w/out repeats (like Fox does w/Prison Break and the non-stop season of 24).

I heard end of Sept or first of Oct. Probably Sept. 27th, but it wasn’t in stone yet.
